Gray and King were charged of murder and voluntary manslaughter in Jackson County Jail while Hendricks was charged with assisting a criminal act.  On December 17, 2007, King entered into a plea agreement where the murder charge was dropped but he was sentenced for 30 years for class A voluntary manslaughter.  While Indiana is one of the only three states in the US without a hate crimes legislation, Shorty Hall is now referred to as the Matthew Shepard of Indiana.
